The Wigwam Motel, Holbrook Arizona

Michelle and I (Kenzie) stayed at the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook on our roundabout road trip from Scottsdale to LA. The town was freezing but the inside of our cement teepee was cozy. We left this frame on the nightstand.

That is a great one! I wonder if the staff let it stay as part of the decor or if they took it away. I hope they let it stay.

disPLAY. is a project that hopes to inspire a positive interaction between the street artist and those who utilize the streets for myriad of other purposes. Our frames are hung with string and stuck to the likes of telephone poles that are already peppered with nails. They can be removed without a trace by anyone for any purpose. The lack of permanence and the ambiguity of our subject matter are meant to give power to those who view our frames. We make them for you. In its essence, graffiti typically instigates a power play. What is art to the person wielding the can of spray paint may be considered vandalism by others . We aim to remove the aspect of graffiti that forces others to reckon with us. We make no attempt to exert our power upon those whose property we augment.
